Annalise Nelson is an Atlanta based visual artist and writer, working from the emotional and psychological realms. Her work encompasses drawing, writing and painting, merging these three mediums to visually reflect the abstract worlds of emotion, feeling and color she is connected to. Her intuitive way of working results in making decisions moment by moment, allowing the subconscious to guide by setting up the right atmosphere for play to occur and mood to appear. Writing tangles and unspools itself through her seasoned canvases; dyes are poured and free to roam as they respond to what is drawn within their wetness; scraps of collected papers find themselves embedded into a new life. The gestural language of drawing fused with the fluidity of dyes create her watery, atmospheric works that curiously probe our human need to communicate, and the many ways we use language to describe experience.
